Airy Grace Organic cotton slipper socks are made from an ancient variety of cotton that has been revived through organic farming methods.

These organic cotton slipper socks are made using a special manufacturing method that uses "Air-In" yarn to achieve a ventilated softness. These fluffy socks feel like you're wrapped in cotton.

Get to know about our environmentally friendly organic cotton material

In order to preserve the softness of the fluffy "cotton" grown by organic farming methods to the maximum extent, we used our unique spinning technology to incorporate a lot of air into the yarn, and carefully spun it to create a new cotton yarn that is softer than ever before.

The yarn, which is filled with plenty of air, is also excellent in moisture absorption, moisture release, heat generation, and moisture retention depending on the temperature, humidity and heat of the body.

With sustainability as our theme, the new organic cotton
socks clarify the materials, process, traceability, and working environment, and uses 100% cotton yarn that is certified organic cotton.

To stabilize the quality, the new cotton yarn is mainly made from a blend of organic cotton from the United States, India, and Turkey. For example, in the United States, large-scale farms do not use any defoliants, and instead wait for the leaves to naturally wither due to frost before harvesting. In Turkey, strong winds blow into the cotton fields from the Mediterranean Sea, so there are almost no insects. As a result, there is no need for pesticides, and the cotton is harvested by hand.

Ancient cotton was originally brown cotton with short fibers, but as time passed and cotton demand increased, and it was improved to a white variety to make it easier to dye. This is the current raw cotton.

We know that brown cotton is also an environmentally friendly material that does not require dyeing, but the ancient brown cotton was too short to be used as thread.  Therefore, the current brown cotton was improved to a fiber length that can be used by crossing it with Supima cotton.

Another characteristic of this brown cotton is that it is resistant to pests and is a strong cotton that can be grown sufficiently with just organic farming without special care.

The behind story of material
development for the new organic cotton socks

To commercialize this organic cotton, we needed to add unique value to the yarn itself. The concept was "Softly spun to wrap your feet softly." To achieve this, our production partner had to make the yarn as loosely twisted and fluffy as possible. However, when they tried to use this loosely twisted yarn in a sock knitting machine, it broke within seconds, making it impossible to knit.

Our goal was "soft socks that feel like they're wrapped in
cotton." The yarn had to be strong enough to withstand the knitting process while retaining its natural feel. After about a year and a half of trials and tests, we finally developed the "Air-In" yarn. We discovered that a single strand would break easily, but combining two strands increased the strength significantly. The final result was a "double-ply yarn made from No. 10 air-in processed yarn."

Here is an image of the yarn at the same magnification. You can see that it is puffy. We were amazed by the soft, bulging feel and natural roughness of the finished product.

To enhance the natural feeling of being "wrapped in cotton," we mixed in a small amount of "saku" (the brown part of the cotton root) before spinning. If you look closely, you will see tiny specks of residue in each pair. This attention to detail is part of what makes our organic cotton socks special.

In comparison tests with our own products, the new Airly Grace product has demonstrated superior moisture absorption and heat generation.

"Airy Grace" Commitment to Sustainability

When we made this collection, sustainability was our central focus. We prioritized using "certified organic" cotton, ensuring it is pesticide-free, traceable, and produced in a safe working environment.

Why We Commit to Undyed Products
Our partner production company discovered during multiple visits to the dyeing factory that dyeing 1kg of yarn requires at least 30L to 50L of water. To visualize, 1kg of yarn is roughly the size of an open palm (20cm x 20cm x 20cm). The reason for using so much water is because there is a process of raising the temperature, adding chemical dyes, dyeing, and washing the yarn two to three times. Dyeing factories have large purification facilities, often the size of a swimming pool, to treat this polluted water before releasing it into rivers. Reflecting on the vast water use in dyeing compared to the severe water shortages faced by children in Africa and other regions, we became acutely aware of our environmental responsibilities. Concerns over wastewater and heating fuel further reinforced our commitment to minimizing water resource usage.

"Airy Grace" aims to reduce water resource usage by not dyeing its products.

The line features natural colors in two shades: ivory, the
natural color of cotton, and brown, a blend of cotton and natural brown fibers. It was surprising to discover that cotton historically came in brown. These considerations have shaped the creation of this product.

Some Benefits of Airy Grace Socks

Moisture Absorption and Release

Cotton is a fiber that boasts excellent moisture absorption and release properties. Moisture evaporates from the human body without us noticing (insensible perspiration). Cotton absorbs this moisture and releases
it to the outside, which is why cotton is popular in the summer. When we conducted a comparison test of moisture absorption and release with regular cotton knitted fabric, Airy Grace knitted fabric showed more than twice the moisture absorption and release. This is due to the air-in processing. The material itself stays moist and doesn’t get stuffy. Additionally, Airy Grace fabric absorbs moisture more than 10 times better than acrylic and polyester materials.

Moisture Absorption, Heat Generation, and Heat Retention

Data shows that Airy Grace fabric achieves a +6.4℃
increase in temperature through moisture absorption and heat generation. It also has a heat retention rate of 63.9%, which is +8.9% higher compared to fabric without air-in processing. The socks are fluffy and warm, making them perfect for winter wear.

The Goodness of Natural Materials

Airy Grace Socks are gentle and comfortable on the body,
offering the goodness of natural materials. Please try this product and experience the difference in quality.

Care Instruction

Because Airy Grace Socks absorb moisture well, they tend to be slow to dry after washing. Additionally, since they are made of a soft material, they can fluff up easily due to friction. Be sure to use a laundry net when washing to maintain their quality.
